Amelia Fang and the Lost Yeti Treasures

Amelia Fang and the Lost Yeti Treasures

I really love these books from Laura Ellen Anderson and think I look forward to a new adventure as much as the children in the shop (maybe even more).

Amelia Fang and the Lost Yeti Treasures sees the gang visiting the Yeti Pits to celebrate Grand-yeti’s 350th birthday party. This is very exciting in itself as the Yeti pit is a warren of tunnels built into Yeti Mountain, and also we all love a good party with loads of food.

Things aren’t all as they seem though, throughout the day and evening objects, shiny objects, go missing.

Amelia and friends resolve to find out what’s happening but will they be able to do it before things go really wrong.

Another lovely adventure which concentrates on themes of friendship and growing up. It’s this core to each of the Amelia Fang adventures that I love the most; a group of children learning and growing emotionally together and supporting each other.

In this one Amelia is also worried about making new friends outside the core group and this become a bit of a problem and upset, until the group work it out.

Funny, friendly, and really fangtastic. One of the best series of vampire books for this age group (well any age group really).

Amelia Fang and the Half-Moon Holiday

Amelia Fang and the Half-Moon Holiday

I really, really look forward to a new book from Laura Ellen Anderson and Amelia Fang and the Half-Moon Holiday kept up the streak of fun adventures that are great to read alone or to children.

The Rainbow Rangers idea was brilliant, we all remember summer camps, some with love, others with less love and Amelia and friends take on the challenges, I was going to say full on, but they are mysteriously shrunk and have to work together to find out why.

Lots of adventures and puns, peppered with great illustrations, I really loved Queen Denise.

An emphasis on friendship and helping people is such an important part of this series, it is a great way to teach this without preaching.

Once more my niece loved this and we both are looking forward to the series continuing as it’s not just a book but a special breed of book.

Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief

Laura Ellen Anderson. HarperCollins. (224p) ISBN 9781405287074

Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief

Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief

Amelia Fang and the Memory Thief is another adventure for Amelia and her fangtastic friends, this time we may get to the root of the problems between Nocturnia and the Kingdom of Light.

Just as we thought everything was going to be fine between the two kingdoms after Tangine found his mum and Amelia brought down the nefarious Unicorn Lords, things seem to be getting worse. Who (or what) is behind this latest escapade?

Everyone except Amelia and Tangine are losing their memories and all the old fears and enmities start to return.

So once more it is up to Amelia to solve the mystery and restore everyones memories.

Again, this was a wonderful romp through Laura Ellen Anderson’s fantasy world, with more facets being revealed in each story this promises to be a world that we can revisit again and again.

And can I just say that the collective sigh of relief from the young people waiting for this was actually audible in several when I told them it was there waiting for them.

Amelia Fang and the Unicorn Lords

Amelia Fang and the Unicorn Lords

Amelia Fang and the Unicorn Lords is the second in Laura Ellen Anderson’s Amelia Fang series finds Amelia and friends travelling to the Kingdom of the Light and face their fears.

Amelia is on a quest to rescue Tangine’s mother, Queen Fairyweather who has been missing for a while now.

Disguises are donned, angel-kittens are faced, puns are plotted, unicorns are discovered. New friendships are forged and truths uncovered in the frightening Kingdom of the Light.

Once more a fast-paced, funny adventure that takes the traditional ideas of Dark and Light and twists and plays with it in a good-natured way.

Very popular and so many youngsters have been asking for Book 3 and were sad that it wasn’t out yet but pleased when I could tell them when it was coming out, none of us though are very good at waiting.
